Fall Fashions.
For a long time I used to complain that I had no fashion gene. Now I like to think I always had the gene, it just took twenty one years to show itself. One day it just clicked. Now getting dressed is easy. Although it would be a lot easier if I had an expandable closet & expandable wallet. Here are my picks for 2009 Fall Fashion.
1. Military jackets & boots: Harsh materials like raw wool and thick cotton, with big brass or silver buttons, make the military jacket very warm, yet stylish. The iconic stripes across the chest and short, yet stiff collar are the rage. And nothing goes better than the chunky boots. In any color, the bigger the boot the better. Try a size smaller than normal and leave the laces undone for a more rugged look.
2. The Perfect Beanie: While it may prove to be impossible to find, the perfect beanie is a must this fall. There are literally hundreds you can choose from and different sizes and styles let all face shapes wear this type of hat. People with smaller heads should rock the thicker and shorter beanies. While people with larger faces should find one made out of thinner material. Try to find a beanie that is long enough that it can easily fold back behind your head. (We're not going for the playing in the snow when you were seven look.) Make sure the hat is loose and relaxed.
Tip: A THIN, baggy tee shirt can easily be turned into the perfect beanie. Simply cut the sleeves off making sure you include some of the body of the tee in your cut. Finish by sewing the sleeve side of the material closed.
3. Layers, Layers, Layers!: When it comes to layers, the more the better. But don't stop with just layering up your favorite fabrics. Use accessories like necklaces, gloves, and bags. Try a low cut tank top, a few long chain necklaces, an open jacket, and an oversize leather messenger bag. For the more sophisticated layered look throw together an ensemble of a thin tee shirt, ultra thin hoodie, with a leather coat and gloves. Wearing scarfs and long necklaces together is also a great look.
